I have 15 years of experience in the mental health field, with professional roots in the Table View, Milnerton, and wider Blaauwberg area.
My early experience included volunteer trauma counselling linked to the Community Intervention Centre (CIC). This work gave me important grounding in supporting people through crisis, loss, and traumatic events, and helped shape the calm, trauma-aware approach that continues to guide my work.
As an HPCSA-registered counsellor, I have experience working with adults, teenagers, couples, and families across a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. My work has included supporting clients through anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, family stress, and periods of personal change.
I also have experience in neurodiversity-informed counselling, including support for ADHD and autism. This includes helping clients and families better understand their experiences, strengths, and challenges in daily life, relationships, school, and work.
My professional experience includes creating safe and affirming therapeutic spaces for people from different backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ clients and neurodivergent individuals. I work in a way that is inclusive, respectful, and responsive to each client’s circumstances.
I place strong value on continued professional development and ongoing learning. I have a particular interest in inclusive, affirming, trauma-informed, and brain-based approaches to counselling, including the use of Polyvagal Theory to support understanding of stress, safety, emotional regulation, and connection.
I have also completed Brainspotting Phase 1 training through Brainspotting UK (24 hours, completed March 2026). This approach supports focused, body-based processing and can be helpful when working with trauma, anxiety, and deeply held emotional experiences.
Overall, my experience reflects a combination of trauma counselling roots, broad therapeutic work across different client groups, and a continuing commitment to thoughtful, up-to-date practice.
Our bodies are constantly scanning for safety.
When we feel safe, we are more able to think clearly, connect with others, and cope with everyday challenges. When we feel overwhelmed or under threat, our nervous system can shift into protection mode, leading to anxiety, shutdown, irritability, or difficulty concentrating.
A polyvagal-informed approach simply means paying attention to how your nervous system responds to stress, and learning ways to gently bring it back into a more settled, balanced state.
In counselling, this can include:
This approach is not about analysing everything in detail, but about helping your body and mind feel more settled so that change becomes more manageable.

Brainspotting is a focused, body-based approach that can help access and process experiences that may feel stuck or difficult to put into words.
Sometimes people are aware of what they feel, but still find themselves repeating the same emotional patterns or reactions.
Brainspotting works by gently guiding attention to where these experiences are held in the body, allowing them to be processed at a deeper level.
In practice, this may involve:
This approach can be helpful for trauma, anxiety, overwhelm, and persistent emotional patterns. It is always guided carefully, with your comfort and readiness at the centre of the process.
